Equine water treadmill FAQs
Our equine water treadmill is suitable for horses of all ages. It’s completely bespoke – the water depth, belt speed and exercise time can all be tailored to the horse’s needs.
The water treadmill can be filled to hoof, fetlock, hock and stifle and tailored to the horse’s size and height. We usually recommend starting the horse off in shallow water to get it used to exercising on the treadmill while giving it a light aerobic workout. As its fitness and condition improve, we’ll increase the water depth and belt speed to provide more resistance to its upper leg muscles while supporting upward movement due to increased buoyancy. Stride length also increases as the water gets deeper. This helps develop flexion, leg movement and back muscles and improves cardiovascular endurance.
Absolutely. We can build a tailored package to meet your needs.
No, we use recycled filtered water as chlorine is harmful to the horse’s airways.
Before your first visit, we’ll have a chat to discuss your horse’s needs and any other important information. For its first session, we’ll lead the horse through the treadmill until it’s relaxed, walking on and standing calmly. We’ll then run the treadmill until the horse finds its rhythm and is confident. For each subsequent session, we’ll adjust the water depth, speed and time.
Absolutely. Everything we do will be tailored to your horse’s needs, working closely with vets, physios and farriers.
Equine salt therapy FAQs
Equine salt therapy is 100% natural and drug-free and can help improve the horse’s fitness and conditioning as part of its rehabilitation. It also helps reduce inflammation and clear excess mucus from the lungs to treat hay fever, asthma, winter cough and COPD symptoms.
Equine salt therapy promotes better overall wellbeing and helps treat coat and skin conditions, including ringworm, rain scald, sweet itch, mud fever, bacterial or fungal skin allergies, rashes and hives.
Each session lasts approximately 30-45 minutes.
The room has capacity for two horses at a time.
